Alexia Vanoven joined the lab in Fall of 2022 as an undergraduate and began as a MS student in Spring of 2023. She received her BS in Wildlife, Fisheries, and Conservation from Arkansas State in 2022. As an undergraduate, Alexia assisted in research looking at the physiological tradeoffs in red-eared sliders and at the health and demographics of freshwater turtles at the Memphis Zoo. She is currently working on her Master's degree in Biology where she hopes to examine the immune function and reproductive tradeoffs in Northern Diamond-backed Watersnakes and explore the differences in immune function among many species of snakes at the Memphis Zoo. Alexia is from Bald Knob, Arkansas and she enjoys anything outdoors, traveling, spending time with family, and reading.
